Far Western’s Saurav’s bombastic batting could not save his team from losing to APF

The first match of Group B in the ongoing one-day cricket tournament, the Prime Minister Cup, Armed Police Force (APF) locked horns with Far-Western Region.

The match that was held at Tribhuwan International Ground, Kirtipur saw APF beat Far-western by 16 runs. APF lost the toss and was invited to bat. APF was able to put up a score of 160 runs in 37 overs, after which the match was interrupted by a continuous rainfall. The teams had to wait for a long time for the match to resume. Subash Khakurel hit 50 runs for APF while Pradip Aire made 45 runs for the team. Similarly APF skipper Gyanendra Malla added 33 runs and Asif Sheikh contributed 19 runs to the team’s total. Basanta Regmi, Shakti Gauchan and Sandip Sunuwar did not participate in the match.

After the rain stopped, the Far-western was allotted the total of 148 runs in 20 overs according to umpire Ledak Worth and Louis rule.

In the second half of the match, team western’s Saurav Khanalsaurav khanal displayed bombastic batting, scoring 90 runs not out off 49 balls for the team, that includes 11 sixes and 3 fours. In the 19th over, Saurav hit 5 sixes in Anish Bohora’s bowl. However, even such a brilliant batting could not save the team from losing as the rest of the players got out in insignificant runs. The team earned 131 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
